A crescent vessel hangs over an observatory that has begun to soften under sunset. The chrome witness gives scale, but the basin does the deeper work: it holds a second moon in rainwater while grass enters the altered stone. The painting asks whether ascent is a departure or a pressure that slowly changes the ground beneath it.
